TV Call Display (/display)

The TV Call Display (/display/:slug) turns any standard 16:9 television or commercial monitor into a high-contrast, glanceable waiting room call board engineered for effortless readability from 3 to 10 meters away.

The 60/40 Split-Screen Layout

Designed around a zero-interaction 16:9 landscape canvas (1920×1080 Full HD or 3840×2160 4K), the screen is divided into two clear zones:

Left Zone (60%): Active Call Stack

Displays currently called and serving tickets with oversized tabular numerals, the mnemonic anchor word, service category, and an arrow pointing to the target Service Desk (e.g., A-024 • Silver Fox → Desk 2).

  • Adaptive Card Sizing: When 1 ticket is active, it renders as a full-height Hero Card. When 2 or 3 tickets are called concurrently, the stack smoothly adapts into compact cards.
  • Brand-Tinted Pulse Highlight: Newly called (or recalled) tickets pulse in your brand accent color for the configured Highlight Duration.

Right Zone (40%): Up Next Queue

Displays upcoming waiting tickets in call order.

  • Live Wait-Time Forecast: Each row displays an estimated wait time (e.g., ~ 5 min), dynamically calculated from the service category’s estimated duration and the number of currently active desks serving that category.
  • Overflow Indicator: When more guests are waiting than fit vertically on screen, a footer badge shows the exact remaining count (e.g., + 6 more waiting).

Highlight Duration vs. Total Call Display Duration

In your TV Display’s settings (Devices → ⋮ → Edit → Display), two independent timers control how called tickets behave on screen:

SettingDefaultBehavior
Call Highlight Duration (highlightDurationSeconds)120 seconds (2 min)How long a newly called (or recalled) ticket card remains highlighted with the active brand color pulse (5 to 3600 seconds).
Call Visibility Duration (ticketDurationSeconds)300 seconds (5 min)How long a called ticket stays visible in the left call stack before automatically pruning (10 to 7200 seconds — or sooner as soon as the operator completes the ticket).

Multi-TV Routing per Zone

If your location has multiple waiting zones or floors, you can deploy multiple TV Displays within the same queue:

  • Open Visitor Flow and link specific Service Desks (Column 3) to specific TV Displays (Column 4).
  • Example: Link Rooms 1–3 to North Wing TV and Rooms 4–6 to South Wing TV so each screen only announces calls relevant to guests seated in that area.

Audio Chimes, Voice Callouts & Screen Wake Lock

  • Zero-Latency Synthesized Chimes (audioPing): Generated directly via the Web Audio API (Harmonic Chime, Ding-Dong, Reception Bell, Digital Ping, Gentle Tri-tone, or None).
  • Natural Spoken Voice Announcements (voiceCall): Reads the ticket number, translated mnemonic word, and target desk aloud in English or German using a selectable Female or Male voice profile.
  • Automatic Screen Wake Lock: While open, the TV Display requests an active browser Screen Wake Lock to prevent the operating system from dimming the display or entering sleep mode.
