Service Desk Terminal (/desk)

The Service Desk Terminal (/desk/:slug) is the staff operator workspace used at reception counters, checkout registers, consultation booths, and treatment rooms. It is responsive from ultra-narrow desktop sidebar windows (360px wide alongside your POS or medical software) up to full tablets and smartphones.

Core Counter Workflow

1. Calling the Next Guest (Space or Enter Hotkey)

Click the primary Call Next button — or press Space or Enter on your keyboard — to call the longest-waiting guest from the service categories routed to your desk.

  • The TV Call Display immediately flashes the ticket card and plays the configured chime and spoken voice announcement (e.g., “Ticket A-014, Silver Fox, please proceed to Desk 1”).
  • Guests using a mobile QR ticket receive an instant Web Push notification and haptic vibration on their phone.

2. One-Stage vs. Two-Stage Calling (Require Explicit Serving Start)

Depending on the physical layout of your waiting area, EntraLane supports two calling workflows (configured in Queue Settings):

  • One-Stage (Default): Clicking Call Next immediately transitions the ticket to Serving and starts tracking service duration. When finished, click Complete (or press Call Next again to complete and call the next guest in one action).
  • Two-Stage (Explicit Serving Start Enabled): Clicking Call Next places the ticket into the Called state while the visitor walks from the lobby to your room. Once the guest actually arrives at the counter, click Start Serving. This ensures walking time doesn’t skew your average service duration analytics.

Active Ticket Actions

ActionWhat It Does
RecallRe-triggers the visual highlight pulse and audio announcement on the TV Display (and re-alerts the guest’s smartphone) if they didn’t notice the initial call.
CompleteMarks the current ticket as Served and returns your desk to the Idle state without calling the next visitor yet.
No-ShowMarks the visitor as No-Show so you can move on to the next guest while keeping accurate no-show statistics in Analytics.
TransferSeamlessly hands the visitor off to another Service Category (e.g., from Consultation to Cashier) or directly to a specific Service Desk, preserving their ticket number.

Inspecting, Reordering & Recalling from the Queue

The secondary panel of the Service Desk Terminal contains two live tabs:

  1. Upcoming (Waiting Queue):
    • Lists every waiting ticket assigned to your desk’s services along with live wait time and service category badge.
    • Call Any Ticket Out of Order: Click Call on any specific ticket row to cherry-pick a guest ahead of the normal FIFO order.
    • Drag-and-Drop Reordering: Drag ticket cards up or down to reprioritize the waiting line in real time.
  2. History (Recently Handled):
    • Shows tickets recently marked as Served or No-Show at your counter.
    • If a guest arrives late right after being marked No-Show, you can recall them directly from the History tab with one click.

Walk-In Creation, Pausing Intake & Break Mode

Create Walk-In Tickets from the Desk

If a visitor approaches your desk directly without checking in at the kiosk, click Create Ticket (+) and select a service category to issue a ticket on their behalf.

Tip: If Desk Has Ticket Printer (hasPrinter) is enabled in Device Settings, a print button appears so you can print a thermal receipt right from your counter.

Pause Service Intake vs. Desk Break Mode

  • Pause Service Intake: Temporarily disables check-ins for a specific service category on the Entrance Kiosk while allowing you to finish serving guests already in line.
  • Set Desk on Break (Break Mode): Places your counter into On Break status and optionally displays a break indicator on the waiting room TV Display.
